The certified Nursing Assistant program prepares students to perform the fundamental skills of a Nurse Aide. Students learn how to assist the client in the hospital, home or long-term care facility. Basic nursing and introductory health care topics are discussed as well as procedure/skills, restorative services and personal care.

NUA 170 Nurse Assistant Clinical Experience - 1 Credit

Home Health Aide Certificate

Home health care is one of the most rapidly growing areas of the healthcare industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts tremendous growth for home health careers from 2008-2018. Therefore, home health is among the most in demand health careers.

This certificate is designed to provide Certified Nurse Aides with additional training and knowledge on how to assist the elderly, sick and disabled, and to maintain their safety, health and independence in the comfort and convenience of their own homes.

NUA 105 - Home Health Aide Theory has the following scheduling option:

  • Hybrid (partially online) 6 full days total student contact (hybrid = 3 days in class, approx. 3 days of online work)

NUA 180 - Home Health Aide Internship has the following scheduling option:

  • Hybrid (partially online) 3 days at site (7 hours per day). Coursework is completed both online and at internship site.

CPR Certified
Pass Background Check
Pass Drug Test
Statement from your health care provider confirming TB test, flu shot and all listed vaccinations

Additional materials needed for Internship will be discussed in class.

 

Hospice Aide Certificate

This certificate summarizes the history, philosophy, goals and objectives of end of life care and provides Certified Nurse Aides additional training and knowledge on how to assist terminally ill patients with their personal care requirements while maximizing comfort and quality of life.
